aargh i wake up and find that all my styles and other carefully wrought plaintext theme mods are stuffed since i upgraded wordpress to fix a problem blogging from within macjournal that had developed. and this is at a time when i am in the last days of my gig as artist and writer in residence at ashfield in sydney : i am on dialup and i have neither bandwidth nor time to fix it … even the stupid default sponsorship message the plaintext theme puts at the bottom of your page is back … scott you know i love you but … ah well a good excuse to link to a much more interesting blog : ryszard dabek is writing from paris in modulation ….
edit : fixed … i can do css :p

When visiting art museums I like to go to the information counter and ask if they have any works by Artist Unknown, my favourite artist. This name is a guarantee that the reason for the work being there is the work itself and not the name of the artist.

i like to go to events which are free, especially when its gratis status has not come about through sponsorship by a large multinational company. although often as not it is as much of a waste of time as an event where you do have to pay, at least i have only wasted time and not money, and mostly i am just looking for an excuse to get out of the house and to do some walking. making a decision to attend an event based on whether it is free and whether comfortable seating is provided and whether it affords an opportunity for a walk is as good as, or better than, deciding to attend on the basis of a review, or the reputation of the performer/s or director. however this only works in large metropolitan centres : in regional areas free events are just about always crap.
